Presidential Search

To our stakeholders

As co-chairs of the Presidential Search Committee, and members of the Board of Visitors, we are privileged to partner with the university community to select the seventh president of Norfolk State University.

The next president of this outstanding institution will both shoulder great responsibility and discover unparalleled opportunity. We are seeking a visionary leader and skilled administrator committed to academic excellence and the NSU mission. We are confident that through an inviting, but rigorous search process, we will identify the right person to lead this institution, build on its distinguished history and fulfill its world-changing potential.

To direct the search process, the Board of Visitors has established a 21-member Presidential Search Committee representative of the university’s multiple stakeholders. It has also retained Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc., a highly respected search firm that has successfully completed more than 2,000 searches and consulting and training projects, to work with the committee.

The purpose of this specially created website is to provide both current information on and a record of the presidential search process.  Visitors to the site will find such information as the presidential profile, an overview of the search process, and periodic search updates.  The site also includes the full membership of the search committee, as well as links to provide online input.

The NSU Board of Visitors recognizes that its most important work is the selection of the university’s next president.  Within that context, we invite you to take an active interest in the search process and help shape the future of this outstanding institution.

Welcome to our search journey.
